Daisy’s Dairy Pt.2
Letters to Aunt Marple
Dear Aunt,
I’m glad to receive your letter. Well, I have some good news for you. I recently got examined by the pathologist and pulmonologist and I don’t have tuberculosis! I was misdiagnosed, it was a bacterial infection.
I’m feeling alive again TBH. Anyway, I had the chance to make a note of my sleep and food habits and here is what I’ve noticed:
Monday: Wake up at 8:30 AM; breakfast is idlis; lunch is Simple Rice and Veggies; dinner is rice and veggies; sleep at 11 PM.
Repeat this routine till Sunday and that’s been my week.
I had fruits like Kiwi, Oranges and bananas three or four times a week.
I had Chicken once and an omelette twice a week.
I know I’m pretty low on protein but I’m taking great care of my liver right now so I have limited foods that are heavy for the liver.
Annnd I have completely cut off restaurant food. I never ordered anything nor went out to eat. All for the liver.
You asked me about my sleep and I must tell you that I get good nine hours of sleep and only once or twice I stayed up late to talk to a friend.
On the work-life front, I am working on a problem and although I have tried many different ways I can’t find the solution yet. It’s tiring and mentally exhausting but I think I will find the solution soon. I have hope.
Also, a friend of mine was telling me about how energetic we used to be when were in school. Spending nine hours in school then going to tuition and still doing well…I wonder how I was able to do all that! Now, I’m such a lazy bum. I wish I could be that active again.
Well, I’m looking forward to your wisdom Aunt.
Yours,
Daisy.
Dear Daisy,
I’m extremely happy and grateful to God that you are alright and free of the disease.
I know the misdiagnosis took a toll on you. I want you to stay healthy always. The routine you’ve shared with me is a great one for your liver and as your liver gets better, I want you to have a balanced diet.
I found your comment on school-life quite intriguing. I do think in school you were able to manage multiple classes, assignments and homework without burning out because there was variety.
You did Math then English then Dance and sports. Now, you just sit and work in office all day and no wonder you come home all exhausted only to binge on TV shows.
Maybe you can introduce some variety in your work life?
For example, you can work for an hour then go for a walk or do a course on something that’ll also help your career. When you come home, maybe you can sing for sometime or dance. Treat your hours like classes. You might schedule a Music class or a sports class and like school, it should be something you have to do no matter what.
I can understand when there’s too much work, you cannot do your extra curriculars and that’s fine for a while but when you have time, I’d love for you do indulge in variety.
Yours,
Marple.
